Turkey's first and largest refined salt factory, Billurtuz Sanayi A.Ş. began operating in 1964 in Izmir.

Rafine Billurtuz San. A.Ş., producing the first and the only refined sea salt of Turkey, acquires all of its raw salt from salt evaporation ponds of Camaltı district of Izmir. Camaltı salt evaporation area, neighboring a protected area of İzmir Bird Paradise, is one of the rare regions which have been free of environmental pollution.

The establishment purpose of Rafine Billurtuz San. A.Ş. is to produce table salt. Continuously improving its technology and know-how, Billurtuz has been the definite leader of its sector and meets the demands for high quality salt from all sector of industry with food industry being the top demander.
